The food at Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat is certified organic and every step from paddock to your plate has been carefully considered. Each ingredient in the food is evaluated and only included if full of nutrients to sustain and energise you for your day. The quality of the ingredients included in recipes and the delight and passion of the kitchen staff create the amazing cuisine that Gwinganna guests rave about.
Our food philosophy is based around the belief that Mother Nature knows best. Low human intervention food [Low HI], where the food has undergone no or minimal changes from its place in nature to your plate. For example, a piece of sweet potato, on your plate may have been steamed or roasted but is still recognisable as a sweet potato the way it came from the Earth. Too many foods today have lost this simple yet essential philosophy. A Gwinganna experience allows guests to re-evaluate their relationship with food and to experience and learn about the meaning of true nourishment. In keeping with this essential philosophy, the Gwinganna chefs cater to food allergies and intolerances with creativity and flair.
Organic food is how our grandparents ate. Rather than a new fad, it is simply a return to traditional farming, one that works in harmony with Mother Nature. Organic food begins with soil quality and traditional farming methods are employed to ensure the earth is well nurtured and prepared, before the sowing of seed. Gwinganna food is organic in every sense of the word, with a high percentage of produce used grown on the property. Additional produce, is fully certified by the Australian governing bodies. Organic and bio-dynamically grown food typically has 20 to 80% more nutrients than conventionally grown produce. Nutrients keep us alive, for future generations to come - and it is better for you.
Note – organic tea and coffee are served on 2 and 3 night retreats in daily set amounts, while wine is served with dinner on some nights of certain retreats as a celebration. Please ask our retreat advisors for more details.
